Dear Apple,

I love the iPhone. This only marks the beginning of what can be done with this ingenious platform that you've created. If you sold bottled air, I would probably buy that too. Call me sometime.

Carl.

But seriously, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the following images. I strictly used the iPhone with iPhone apps only - TiltShiftGen, Camera Bag, Pano and Best Camera. I'm pretty impressed with what you can do with the iPhone and am stoked for what's in store. I honestly couldn't imagine running a business without it. I hope that it feels the same way about me.

Part of the reason I enjoyed this creative side project is to prove to myself that I don't need a $5,000 camera to achieve a creative and artistic outcome (in my opinion at least). I've been guilty of setting my sights on the best that's out there instead of honing in on my skills with the equipment that I have. It took me a while and unfortunately a lot of money to realize that the amount of equipment that I owned didn't necessarily breed killer images. Does it help? Sure. But I'm convinced now that often times the tools you have at your fingertips might be enough and might even be amazing. This side project has been a refreshing process for me, especially after a long and busy wedding season this year.

A special thanks to Tyler and Sara for being our models yesterday afternoon for this little experiment. I also enjoyed the company of my friend Morgan Tepsic who shot some film during the session. Look out for more experimental sessions in the future. They'll either be awesome or will royally crash and burn :) Stay tuned.

Enjoy life

Everything is taken and processed exclusively with the iPhone.

LOVE them! I shoot with my T-mobile MyTouch way more than my SLR and probably have more fun doing it. It's so rad to see photographers rocking so many awesome things right now.

These are awesome! Limited printing abilities, but for web use they're great. They look a bit dotty, like they were GIFs before JPGs, but still they're killer images. Looking forward to more experiments!

Beautiful job. I'd love these if I thought they were taken on the most expensive professional gear. I think I love them more because they aren't. What a great way to challenge yourself and keep your perspective fresh!

I guess fleeting are the days of large format, Holga, Polaroids, and so many other film processes that these apps were based off of. Nice images though.

proof that you can take amazing pictures with anything you touch. I remember the incredible shots you used to get with that 3mgp cybershot in college or the disposable wide angle. You da Man!

I think it's great that you stepped out of your comfort zone!! Whether it be with an iphone, film, or something else, doing things like this can only make one better. And it doesn't matter if it's crash & burn or awesome, usually there's always something learned. 3, 5 and the 9th down are favorites!

Awesome as usual! Here's the next step to achieving total technical skill...remove the word "processed" from that last sentence. Dare you try to see what comes of a session of totally unfutzed images? Straight from camera to webpage with no intervening filters or whatever other computerized software doo-dads you have at your disposal? THAT'S my challenge to you, my man!

(12.18.09 @ 03:19 PM)

Wow. These are awesome! Can't believe it's all through the iphone - amazing!!!!

I stalk a LOT of photographers and now you've been added. Sorry. What I wanted to say was that ONE of them always says "it's not necessarily the TYPE of equipment you have, it's knowing how to use it correctly" in response to having a very expensive camera = very awesome pictures. Now I'm a believer.

Awesome session! I have a little IPhone project going myself. I use it for about the same. TO remind myself why I entered photography and to remind myself that sometimes the best images don't *need* to be taken with that snazzy expensive equipment, but to be taken with the heart.

*Update - We found our couple! Thanks everyone for the emails! Keep checking back, we'll do something similar to this in the future.

Okay so there's something I've been wanting to do for a while now. An entire session using the iPhone and the iPhone only. No photoshop and no high end cameras. Just sliding to unlock and the use of a photo app or two.

It will either be epically awesome or it will totally flop. Either way it's FREE!

Here's what I'm looking for
1. Must be a couple
2. Must have the stamina of Chuck Norris in the cold
3. Must be free on the afternoon of December 16th

If you're interested send me an email at info@carlzochphotography.com

*To clarify, we need human couples. No animals please.

Will you be providing me and my wife the rights release for these photos. We would like to start a Facebook account and use these photos. Do you also provide mobile changing stations? I would also like hot cocoa and mitten warmers. If you can meet these requirements, I think we are your couple.

Mr. Zoch, I've been stalking your blog off and on for months. I've also been shamelessly copying some of your very original images and felt it time to break my silence and tell you how impressed I am. If you ever want to see some of your regurgetated images, I'm on facebook and would love some feedback on my family photos. My oldest son is in Fayetteville, Ar. When he gets engaged, we must make the trip for some of your professional time.

the one that's with you. -Chase Jarvis

This weekend my wife and I went to see Counting Crows in Sioux City, Iowa with some friends of ours. Counting Crows played a free show so we thought it would be fail safe to spend a bunch of money in gas to go see them. It was fail safe indeed. The show was unreal and Adam Duritz dominated life once again. What topped off the entire experience was the weather. It was cloudy, misty and cool outside all day. In my opinion, you couldn't ask for better weather than that to see the Counting Crows live.

Below are just a few of many pictures I took with shakeitphoto. I actually brought my new 5D Mark II on the trip and didn't take it out once. Shakeitphoto kept it real all weekend long.
